Can My Iced Coffee Be Healthy & Amazing?

Sharing is caring!

For many years, I could not stand the taste of coffee, but a friend of mine introduced me to a coffee that I liked. If anyone knows me, you know how huge this is. I refused to drink it, except in times of desperation. I’m going to share with you how I make my coffee because now I have become a lover of coffee, but more so, iced coffee.

Coffee

There are so many types of instant coffee to choose from, but I was introduced to Juan Valdez Classic Instant Coffee. If you are like me and want to start drinking coffee, I recommend this one. It is quick and easy to make, and a great intro to coffee. As I continue to learn about and experiment with different coffee, I am enjoying making freshly ground coffee. I went from enjoying light-roasted coffee to now enjoying medium-roasted coffee. I now love, love, love Super Sweet

Okay? But what about Super Sweet? It also is as its name suggests. It is a super or stronger sweetener that if used in excess, will definitely be overpowering. You can also purchase this sweetener on the THM’s website or here, and like gentle sweet, you can purchase a similar low-glycemic sweetener or create your own version of super sweet, using the THM conversion chart below. Since using this and Gentle Sweet, it has made this THM journey a lot easier, especially since I have a sweet tooth.

Gentle Sweet

You may ask, what is Gentle Sweet? Well, it’s just like the name suggests. It is a more gentle sweetener produced by THM. It is a yummy sweetener made and sold on the THM website. You can get it on their website or here. If you don’t have any yet, you can definitely purchase a different low-glycemic sweetener on the market or create your own version of Gentle Sweet, using the THM conversion chart below. This is a great sweetener to introduce to those new to the THM plan. Word of caution though, if you have dogs. One of its ingredients, xylitol, can make dogs sick or kill them. Even though I do not have any dogs, I only purchase THM’s xylitol-free version of Gentle Sweet.

Skinny Syrup

Another thing that makes coffee more enjoyable is using Jordan’s Skinny Syrups. If you don’t know what this is, just know, it is delicious. It is basically flavored syrups, you can add to coffee, other drinks, or food to enhance their flavor. I recommend you try the ones I suggest or look for ones that do not have added sugar.

Creamer

I believe creamer makes a nice iced coffee. It tones down the potential bitterness of the coffee. One thing you will learn as you drink coffee is your coffee preferences. This may include the types of creamers, the styles of coffee, the strengths of coffee, sweeteners, etc. I personally like just plain heavy whipping cream from

Notes

  • This recipe makes a tall 20 oz glass of iced coffee
  • I typically boiled my water in the microwave for 2 minutes, but you could boil it on the stove in a stove safe kettle until it comes to a boil.
  • If the ingredients seem like they will not stir in, be patient because they will.
  • Please do not pour the coffee concentrate over your ice until all of its contents have completely dissolved.
  • If you find that your collagen still will not mix in completely, perhaps look into getting a different brand of collagen. I use the Trim Healthy Mama brand.
  • If you find that you have more coffee concentrate than can fit in your iced coffee, either sip the iced coffee down about an inch before you add the creamer or just safely drink the little hot coffee left. I have done both.
  • When I originally started making this iced coffee, I used heavy creamer, which worked great, but I wanted my iced coffee to be as low in carbs and calories. In other words, I wanted this to be a Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Pull drink.
  • If you are a more advanced coffee drinker and you are not into instant coffee, just brew the equivalent of a strong 12 oz cup of coffee the way you like it.
  • If you are limited on time in the mornings, you could brew your coffee concentrate the night before, including all the other ingredients, except the ice. You will want the coffee concentrate to be warm to hot when combining the rest of the ingredients. Then store your coffee concentrate covered in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, prepare your glass and ice as normal, and then pour your cold coffee concentrate over your ice and then your creamer.
  • I love drinking my iced coffee in one of those 20 oz tall mason jars with a lid and metal straw. It makes the experience more fun.
